This workshop looks at mainstreaming the disability perspective and the future of accessibility. For society to be truly inclusive of persons with disabilities, steps must be taken in law, policy and practice to ensure that the disability perspective is mainstreamed.

Access to information by people with disabilities has been widely recognized by many WSIS and IGF declarations. On 3rd May 2008, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) entered into force, turning the intent of these declarations into an internationally recognized human right.

In an effort to understand the future of the Internet and its role as a catalyst for change, many organizations have used scenario planning tools to try to assess possible directions and to prepare for them. Scenarios planning is a methodology used widely in business and increasingly in the public and non-profit sectors to allow organizations to anticipate how the future may turn out.
